This week we’ve been exploring with cotton bud painting and corks to create a colourful circus picture with dots in different ways. Cotton bud and cork painting is wonderful and a great way to help develop your child’s fine motor skills. The fine ‘pinch’ grip required to hold the bundle of ear buds in place and to move it around the paper to paint, is ideal for building the smaller muscles of the hand.

Children love being given creative license to change a plain piece of paper into one filled with colour!

Cork painting:

A fun way to strengthen the fingertips is any type of art that requires corks. It is a great activity for kids to explore their creativity and imagination. It also is a wonderful sensory activity as children use their hands to manipulate the different textures. By strengthening the fingertips, we are getting the hands ready for writing in a fun way!
