Summer is over, and I’ll bet you are starting to think about more indoor ways to keep your energetic toddler active. How about an easy DIY project that your child will get a few years worth of use out of? My easy answer – make your own busy or activity board. One trip to your local hardware store, and a quick rummage through your toy box should give you everything you need to make an awesome activity board. I recently made a new one for my Clamber Club classes, and had moms begging me to start a side operation making and selling them!! But it’s so easy to do it yourself.
You will need:
- A board, preferably wooden so that it is firm and can last forever.
- Paint or spray paint to decorate the board.
- Knobs, locks, handles, switches, latches, tubes and any other fiddly things that your toddler loves to play with.
- A drill, screws and cable ties to secure all the bits to the board. Decorate your board however you like, attach all the fiddly bits that you have bought or found, and voila! Hours of entertainment for your toddler!!
If you don’t have time to make your own board you can get a Bizzy Board like the one below from Bizzy Boards:
